Established in 2021 by close friends Aaron Werner and Andrew Evans, Adapy recognized a thriving mobility industry marred by a notable void. Dominated by major OEM companies grappling with relentless supply and demand challenges concerning fundamental adaptive equipment like lifts, cranes, and transfer seats, these companies found it challenging to delve into innovative automation initiatives. Adapy seized this opportunity, pioneering the creation of an autonomous platform capable of operating independently from all OEM products while seamlessly interfacing with them. This innovation presents a novel avenue to introduce automation to current adaptive equipment systems.

In simple terms, we pioneered automation in the mobility industry! We see this moment as a unique era for automation—where adaptive equipment isn’t just a support tool for the disabled but can evolve into a transformative experience for individuals with limited mobility. Our role involves bolstering existing OEM products by automating them, aiming for outcomes often seen only in futuristic movies. Adapy isn’t merely a team of engineers with an awesome goal of industry automation; it’s founded by wheelchair users, innovative engineers, and a collective of individuals united by a singular aim—to enhance the lives of others!

In 2021, it secured the ProBoPat Patent Grant Award from MiCasa Resource Center and the Pitch Award from Atwood Innovation Plaza at Utah Tech University. The following year, Adapy was honored as the ‘Startup of the Year’ and clinched the Globee Award, alongside receiving its second ProBoPat Patent Grant Award. OUR HISTORY
Adapy was founded in 2021 with a vision to revolutionize the mobility industry through innovative adaptive technology. The journey began when Aaron Werner learned of his neighbor, Air Force veteran Andrew Evans, and the daily struggles he faced with mobility due to a spinal cord injury sustained while serving our country. Frustrated by these challenges, Aaron decided to apply his technology experience to help Andrew realize a dream he had been envisioning since 2015: to control his adaptive equipment with a smartphone, similar to home automation systems.
Realizing that these problems were not specific to just Andrew but were faced by wheelchair users worldwide, Aaron and Andrew decided to tackle these challenges for all wheelchair users. To achieve this, they organized a team of engineers and experts in mobility, tapping into the resources at the local Innovation Plaza at Utah Tech. This collaborative effort led to the development of the Adapy Smart Mobility System.
Since securing our first patent, we have made significant strides, from developing prototypes to expanding our integrations with major wheelchair lifts, cranes, and transfer seats. Our commitment to excellence and user-centric design has driven us to constantly push the boundaries of what is possible. Today, Adapy stands at the forefront of the mobility industry, dedicated to enhancing the lives of individuals with adaptive needs and setting new standards for the future of mobility.
